Fly Odyssey specialise in providing private fly fishing tuition for complete beginners up to seasoned anglers for both single handed, double handed and salt water fishing. With a variety of locations from rivers to lakes that are all within easy reach of London using experienced qualified Instructors.
Our aim is to ensure that your fly fishing lessons are an enjoyable experience and that the learning process is at your own pace.
Fly Fishing can be and should be the most amazing new skill for you to take up, with the opportunity to relax, enjoy the beautiful countryside and take delight in catching fish but also in the physical aspect and joy of casting a fly rod well.
We also help with advice on buying the correct tackle so that you feel confident and prepared for any fishing day.

From the first timers...
We believe that casting tuition needs to be taught to the highest level from the first time that you pick up a fly rod. It really is a necessary fundamental enabling you to increase your catch rate and enjoyment of the day as you experience the pleasure of casting.
If you don’t have the right foundations in casting, it is almost impossible to move on to more advanced techniques and ingrained habits can lead to strain on muscles and joints as you get older.
To the more experienced
Advanced casting tuition teaches you better presentation of the fly, aids in windy conditions, helps to avoid obstacles and currents affecting the fly line and gives you an ability to put a fly where others fail.
As an experienced fisherman, it is always the tricky fish that becomes the trophy and there is nothing more satisfying than putting out the perfect cast and seeing that fish sip down your fly.
Our Instructors
Our Instructors are fully qualified at AAPGAI, GAIA and level 2 and hold full insurance, First-Aid certificates and DBS checks with an ability to make you feel confident and happy while learning.
Private casting lessons may be booked from one hour to a full tuition day depending on requirements. We also give advice on tackle, entomology, fly selection, watercraft, understanding the trout and its habitat.
Lessons for groups can also be booked at either lake or river with all equipment supplied for the day.
Casting lessons start at £75 per hour. Fishing costs vary depending on location.
Where We Teach
If you are a newcomer to the world of fly fishing, lake fishing is your easiest starting point. With no current to contend with and being relatively free of obstacles they offer the perfect place to learn to fly fish.
Fly Odyssey has access to four stunning, privately owned lakes, which are perfect for those who are looking to pick up a fly rod for the first time. With all the necessary equipment supplied by our team, these sessions are a great way for both single anglers and groups to learn the basics before visiting the chalkstreams.
